Paper Planes Ltd – Smooth cooperation has facilitated business management
Paper Planes relies on Administer’s electronic financial management services and expertise.
Founded in 2014, Paper Planes is a marketing communications expert specializing in marketing content, design, and technology.
In its first two financial years, the company used the services of a traditional accountant. However, with the significant growth in revenue and staff, the management realized that predicting the company’s financial situation and development was challenging with these tools.
“In retrospect, the first couple of financial years were like practicing entrepreneurship and running a business for us. We spent too much of our time managing financial administration, the accountant was answering questions almost every day, and the cheapest possible invoicing software did its job, however it did. Of course, we did a lot right; some of the Excel sheets created back then still serve us well,” recalls Ville Pelttari, CEO of Paper Planes Oy.
The decision to transition to electronic financial management was effortless. “There were constant situations where we felt we didn’t have precise up-to-date information for decision-making. Even though the company was doing well financially from the beginning, every time we had to examine, for example, what the financial figures say about hiring a new employee, it gave us gray hair,” clarifies Pelttari.
Why did Paper Planes choose Administer as its electronic financial management partner?
Once the decision to transition to electronic financial management was made, Paper Planes began the search for potential partners. “We met with the executive team, sent out several requests for proposals, and asked familiar entrepreneurs for their experiences with different service providers and systems,” says Pelttari.
The competitive tendering process took several weeks. “We had not thought before that there would be such significant differences between operators as there ultimately were. We were impressed by Administer’s service-oriented attitude and communication, which were in a class of their own from the beginning. In addition, they had immediate references from other companies in our industry, so we felt we were in good hands,” explains Pelttari.
Smooth cooperation has facilitated business management
Paper Planes outsourced its financial management and payroll processing to Administer and adopted the eFina software. “eFina has simplified things a lot. It’s difficult even to list all the things we had to do manually and sometimes also correct manually before. Now we have one system where the entire financial administration runs. Our accountant and I are always on the same page, discussing the same numbers. Since there’s still plenty to discuss, I greatly appreciate that our accountant is easily reachable by phone and, if necessary, in person,” describes Pelttari.
“Actually, the best way to describe the change is that our former way of running financial administration now feels distant and laborious. We would have saved a lot of time if we had chosen Administer from the beginning. Now things run smoothly: I know we can make decisions based on the right numbers without much effort,” concludes Pelttari.
