Intrum needed easy and effortless payroll services, leading them to choose Silta as their partner
Sini Mökkönen from Intrum’s HR department explains that Intrum has chosen outsourced payroll processing as its operating model, and for their previous partner, this meant that Intrum’s payroll team was located in Tallinn. In this model, an Intrum HR specialist in Helsinki had to dedicate a significant portion of their work time to payroll processing.
“It felt absurd. Despite outsourcing payroll, it consumed a lot of working hours within Intrum’s HR,” Mökkönen says.
Initially, Intrum tried to improve payroll processes with their previous partner, but their mindset and culture didn’t align.
Intrum wanted to develop payroll management with a modern operator who shared the same interests – minimizing the time and effort spent on payroll processing without compromising quality.
Through the bidding process, it became apparent that there were operators in Finland as well who asked Intrum’s HR to fill out forms, scan and send them. This was no longer acceptable. The idea was that payroll processing should be easy and effortless. This led to their collaboration with Silta.
Benefits of Intrum’s Silta partnership:
- RADICAL REDUCTION IN TIME SPENT ON PAYROLL PROCESSING. Previously, most of one person’s work time was dedicated to payroll; now it’s just a few hours a week.
2. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE – A SHARED APPROACH WITH SILTA. Things are done together. Sini Mökkönen provides examples of collaboration: “Employees can send their tax cards directly to Silta. With the previous partner, you could only contact a single contact person. Now employees can directly ask Silta about payroll matters. If mistakes occur, there’s no blame game. The search for a scapegoat has completely ended with Silta. This is much more pleasant.”
3. STREAMLINED SILTA PROCESSES. Silta constantly streamlines and automates processes agilely. Manual work is minimized, resulting in fewer errors in payrolls.
4. ACCURATE PAYROLL BOOSTS JOB SATISFACTION. Sini Mökkönen of Intrum emphasizes the link between pay and job satisfaction. According to her, a correct paycheck provides a sense of security.
“If the paycheck is repeatedly wrong, it erodes an employee’s trust in their employer. You inevitably start to think – especially if your salary is consistently too low – am I valued so little that my pay isn’t even calculated correctly.”
